The Fowey River Valley
The River Fowey rises a little to the east of Brown Willy on Bodmin Moor. It runs south off the moor, through the Draynes Valley and Golitha Falls, then west along the Glynn Valley before turning south to Lostwithiel and the estuary.
Aside from the main river the valley includes several tributaries, each of which has its own charm. The main tributaries are the Loveny or St Neot river, the Warleggan or Bedalder, Cardinham Water and the river Lerryn.
The Fowey valley is a fascinating part of Cornwall, for its history, for its literary connections and for the beauty and tranquility that I have tried to capture in these pictures.
The photographs that I have included here follow the course of the river from source to mouth. These are some of the photographs that will appear in a book, Exploring the Fowey Valley, to be published by Alison Hodge (www.alisonhodge.co.uk) in the Spring of 2011. This is a work-in-progress and I will update the collection from time to time.
