Fowey Docks from Mixtow creek
Fowey Docks from Mixtow creek
While the Fowey river and estuary have a deserved reputation for being peaceful, attractive and relatively unspoilt, the area has a much earthier past. The mineral railway on the western bank and the docks at Carne Point are the main survivors of a distinctly industrial history.

This shot is from Mixtow Creek as the tide went down, looking west towards the docks. The mud, the small boat and the moored sailing boats are all part of the estuary's modern character.
