Misty morning

Earlier this month I took several shots of the morning mists in the Lanreath area, five or six miles north of Polperro. The combination of the mist and sunlight creates some interesting effects, though they can be tricky to capture.

This shot looks almost like a sepia image, with quite subtle tone gradations. I used a long 255m focal length to avoid both a distracting foreground and the almost featureless sky. I like the way the sunlight has created highlights on and around the farm buildings. I got lucky with the bird in the foreground, a tiny detail that seems to add to the picture.

This is more or less as the image came out of the camera, with a little boost to the contrast and vibrance in Lightroom.
